hi there
ll be doing the gr20 starting sunday 25th may this will be my 4th time. normally i fly to nice with either easyjet or BA and then corsican airways onto calvi.the main problem with this is that you end up wasting a whole day and the expense.
so this year i was going to try the new easyjet route into bastia. price wise its great but because the flight is on sunday im struggling to find public transport to calvi !!! can anyone suggest anything?
thanx
brian

Hi Brian,

You can go from Bastia to Calvi by train -- see the timetable here and check out "DF" columns (Sundays and public holidays).

Hi, We arrive in Bastia on Sunday June 15th, and will start the GR20 from north to south on Monday 16th. Our return flight is at midday Sunday 22nd June. So we only have 6 days of walking time available, so we are thinking of leaving the path (on Saturday 21st June) at Refuge de Manganu, walking down to Soccia, and from there to Vico and Ajaccio, so that we can catch the train to Bastia where we will stay in a hotel ready for our flight home next day. Does anyone have ideas on the best way to get from Soccia to Vico/Ajaccio, am I right in saying there is no public transport?
Best regards
steviep

Steviep, you are right, there is no public transport (except taxi) between Soccia and Vico. You could, however, combine the GR20 with the Mare a Mare Nord, end your trek in Evisa and take a bus to Ajaccio from there.

Thanks for the idea Marek - we will look into it - half the fun is planning the trip as they say!

Steviep; You could also hike from Manganu to Corte in one long day or stay overnight on the way at Refuge Sega. I came off the GR20 this way in September last year. The hike was beautiful down the Tavignano Valley. Connections to Bastia might be easier from Corte.

Thanks koshaun, that's another good idea.
