Hiking with a dog?
Marek writes in an old blog that he has recieved quite a few questions about whether it is possible to go with dogs into Parc naturel regionale de Corse (PNRC) and whether a dog can manage to cross the GR 20 trail.
His answer is: "dogs are allowed all over the Park's territory, but they must not enter the refuges."
However, has anyone any solution or experience with this problem: That dogs are allowed in the Park but they must not enter the refuges.
Is it for instance possible to find some other form of accomodation along the hiking trails, where a dog is allowed?
Best regards

Anja-
While I have hiked and camped with my dog on many other trails, I haven't done so on the GR20 so my experience in this matter is indirect.
All of the dogs that I've seen on the GR20 either slept outside while their master was inside the refuge, or slept in (or near) their master's tent. At stages where there are gites and/or hotels, the same was true. Dogs large enough to walk the GR20 are expected to stay out of the buildings. Many group guides bring their dogs, so expect your dog to have friends if you go during the high season.
If your dog is not OK with being separated from you at night (most refuges will close all doors), then you should consider staying in a tent.
Marek's comments about the Cirque de la Solitude should also be taken to heart. The 4th stage has some very step sections, so be prepared to carry your dog if it cannot manage steep slab and scree (and snow if applicable). There are a few short sections prior to the Cirque (if you are going North to South) that will give you some practice ;-)
