Booking Refuges

I have read conflicting reports about being able to book refuges. I've read its bestto book then when I've gone on a few french websites they've said you can't book and its first come first served...does anyone know for definite (e.g have you done it before), and if so where do you book...with the parc offices?? I'm going in July and would like to know so not have to carry a tent for a few days trip.

Paul, as far as I know, accommodation in the PNRC's refuges on the GR20 (unlike gites and other kinds of lodging) can't be booked in advance. They work on a first come, first serve basis. You can contact Parc naturel régional de Corse (PNRC -- the owner of the refuges) using this contact information.
