Insect repellent needed?

I haven't read anything about this anywhere online or in guides I've read so I assume its not required but just wanted to check.

Are there any biting insects (similar to mosquitos or midges) for which insect repellent would be useful?

A small amount would be usefull for the lower areas (e.g. Asco, Col de Vecchio, etc) and maybe elsewhere.

I needed insect repellent while camping in Calvi, Ille Rousse and Corte. Still got bit though!
