Dear all!

one more question...
I'm arriving on sunday 11th ajaccio airport 15:30.
so i will be to late to catch the 16:00 bus to porto vecchio

I would like to start from the south. to avoid the crowds. and have the sun not against me but with me.. also i like the easier start :)

im traveling alone. and i would like to arrive to conca still that day so i can start hiking on the 12th.

Any ideas?? somebody passing by?
how is hitch hiking going there???

otherwise i have to travel on the 12th... to start hiking on the 13th.. as i thinking hiking late is not so smart in the heat...

thanks! Hilde

Hilde,

The Corsican people are nice to hitchhikers so I guess you wont' have any problems to find a ride. Of course it's just a matter of luck as well.

Definitely it's a wise idea to start your first day very, very early in the morning. I recommend you should begin to walk when it's still dark. The first half of the day is at a very low altitude (and not particularly interesting) and the sun on your back would make your walk very miserable.

How about renting a car at Ajaccio and delivering it in Porto Vecchio? We did the other way around, from PV to Ajaccio.

Hichhiking might be a bit difficult as there might be low traffic, or just tourist who do not pick up hitch-hikers. I have no experience here, but I would not count on getting to PV/Conca on thight schedule by hich-hiking.

You could try to find someone driving the stretch on one of the co-voiturage pages (popular in France), like: http://www.covoiturage.fr/ or http://www.easycovoiturage.com/covoiturage-corse-20.html (there are many other, just type "covoiturage" in google)
