Is it possible to get from L'Isle Rousse or Calvi to Porto Vecchio, leaving late afternoon? I cannot find a bus service that leaves in the afternoon. Thanks.

That's a tough one. As an Irishman told my father in law once "If I was trying to get there, I wouldn't be starting from here."

The buses down to Porto Vecchio run down the east coast, which probably means you will have to get over to Bastia before you can travel south. Is this to link up with a ferry arrival? Can you take a ferry to somewhere else like Acaccio or Porto Vecchio itself?

The last train from Calvi is 15:45 or 16:21 from L'le Rouse. That will take you as far as Bastia.

NB Which day of the week? Sundays are terrible for public transport.

Excellent plan! The shuttle bus out to Conca from there is easy. I'd recommend staying at Gite la Tonnelle in Conca before you set out on the GR20. They may be prepared to pick you up from the ferry http://gitelatonnelleconca.monsite-orange.fr/
If you fancy a night by the beach before your trek, go to Pinarellu http://www.campingupinarellu.com but the first bus is after mid day so not much use http://www.corsicabus.org/busPVecchio/PVE_Pinarello.html

Hi - I love your blog by the way. There are various pools you can jump into on the GR20 if you do want to indulge!
