Hi, still plannign for the GR20 in June! I have purchased and read Paddy Dillos book, but am wondering if it is also worth purchasing the book by David Abram - I realise it is a bit out of date but it does purport to have big maps. Otherwise is there somewhere else I should be looking for maps? Is there a preferred site to download topo maps for my GPS for this trek?

Thanks again
Ben

You want the most up to date guidebook or you won't have anything to guide you between Haut Asco and Tighjettu. Most trekkers don't use GPS and some don't even use maps. The one thing that everyone relies on are the white and red markers that show exactly what your next move should be. No matter what a map or GPS might suggest, it is those markers that help the most, especially when the ground is steep and rocky and there are several changes of direction in a short space.

It is worth having a look at IGN topo-maps at https://www.geoportail.gouv.fr/carte . You will find Corsica and you can zoom in through different scales and styles of mapping. Some scales show the GR20, but the mapping is out of date because it still shows the route going through the Cirque de la Solitude. I think Paddy Dillon's book is the only one that shows the new route, so long as you have the most recent edition. Cicerone put the new route on their website to help anyone who still had an old edition http://blog.cicerone.co.uk/gr20-route-changes-mean-end-era/ . I guess there is somewhere that you could buy mapping for GPS, but it isn't something that you see people using on the GR20

Thanks. Michele, you might want to have a look at the links within your bog - at first they appear to be bringing up a site to download the GR20 map, but then, dependinmg on which link on your site I am using, it either redirects me to a clothing site, and lovely clothes that they are, I am a man and hence a womans clothing store is of little use to me lol. Another link caused computer problemns and I am now half way through a full virus scan as it presented me with some rubbish insisting it was sa genuine microsuoft security site and I had to provide passwords etc - the only way out of it was to doa restart on my computer.

Sorry to hear that, Ben, they seem to work fine with me, but I can understand if you had trouble because downloading from such sites is not straightforward. Thanks for pointing that out, tomorrow I'll change hosts.

Ok, you may download the maps from the following link which should not give you any problems:

I also updated the second link to the maps in my page (the first one still works).

Again, sorry for the problems.
