Hi All,
since I cannot make the search option work on this forum I'm going to post a new question.
Does anyone know if (and where) it's possible to get 'white gas' (coleman fuel/ naphtha) in Ajaccio ?
It's 'essence c' in french or Essence filtree, I believe.
Is there a chain of shops I should try while looking for it?
I know I can get unleaded petrol but I rather don't.

Thanks,
Greg.

Take a gas stove to save you a heap of problems.

Not very useful comment, and not very on the topic.
However, thank you. I'll have it in mind.

Certainly on the topic of cooking stoves. I know well how difficult it can be in France for anything other than cans of gas for their Blue gas stoves. Recently, in Nice, I searched around for screw-on gas containers for my Coleman alpine stove...no joy...ended up purchasing a blue gas stove before taking a bus up into the Alpes Maritime.
Whatever it should not be a major problem since most of the refuges have communual outside gas burners. The only problem is that you may have to wait in a queue for the use of the stove. I guess that is why that I have always carried my own stove in Corse.

Yes, I rather have a quick breakfast in a morning.
Really, peculiar.
They must have something like this;
http://www.rvunique.dk/webshop/rengoeringsmidler/special_produkter.aspx?...
It's a cleaning product. And burns great.
What's the best household supplies shop to try?

I found this;
http://www.castorama.fr/store/Petrole-desaromatise-1L-prod12260235.html?...
petrôle desaromatise
Someone said it's equivalent to coleman fuel.

Any french person out there ?

There's an Intersport in Ajaccio which might sell different fuel options.

If you do a Google search for gas/fuel and include the term 'corsica.forhikers.com' you can usually find old threads about this topic.

Hope that helps,
Andy

Thanks.
We went to Intersport. They didn't have any liquid fuel.
They didn't know what essence c was, too.
My french friend just told me they should sell it in hardware stores, but we had no time to run around the town.
In the end we got unleaded petrol.
Thanks all.

Hardware stores are pretty good for fuels. They are the only places I have ever been able to find alcohol fuel in Corsica.
