According to a recent article in Corse matin, the GR20 refuges are to be rebuilt/renovated, starting next year with Ortu di u piobbu and Carozzu:

Since work will take place during the season, one solution envisaged is to install a military tent for meals and for shelter during bad weather, with hikers sleeping in small tents.

Carrozzu looks interesting with another storey added. I wonder if they will do that with all the refuges.

When they do the building work in some places, there will hardly be room to move.

Hello,
There was a report in a French newspaper a couple of years ago that a big upgrade was to be carried out.
I guess that with the PNRC and many conservation folks on the island to be accommodated not withstanding the government departments in France and Corse that it was not going to happen quickly. However if it happened at the rate of one per summer season it would be of great help for visitors. I wonder if camping would still be permitted?
