Hi all! I'm Kevin, and I'm a newbie at this forum and in hiking.
I know that all people have to stay at home now (I follow this rule) but I want to ask a question about compasses for my future hiking.
Are there any features that are "must-have" in compasses now? Which brand to choose? There are so many videos and articles on the Internet like this https://outdoorsly.org/best-compasses-for-hiking/ but I don't know which are good and bad.
Please, help me to choose one.
Thanks!

Hello Kevin, and welcome. Interesting question now that in this day and age compassess have been put aside in favour of gps units.
If you are into compasses and old school orienteering, you may probably want to go with the Silva Ranger 2.0 Compass that has a mirror which allows you to aim at a target destination and read your bearing with the mirror. But that's just my personal opinion. The compasses listed in your link are all good: what's important is that you learn the basics of orienteering.

Hi there,

I think a beginner should start with GPS. I also started with a compass, but at first it was difficult, and I had to switch to GPS. For choice, I used this list https://jonsguide.org/best-hiking-gps/, but there are many other reviews for every taste.
