Advice welcome
Hi, alot of useful info there. I am going on my first big trip in early September. Yup, I have chosen the GR20. Any tips or fitness regimes welcome. I am going with an experienced mountaineer and have been climbing/walking myself for almost 3 years on and off. All I need to know is will I manage it? Aaargh! I hope so. Just how fit do you think I need to be. I have done a marathon recently so I do have stamina.

Carrie, GR20 is definitely easier than marathon :-) If you needn't do it in 10 days instead of normal 15, you shouldn't have any problems. Just keep your pack weight as low as possible, because some parts (e.g. Cirque de Solitude) are rather difficult with a heavy bag on one's back.
