Hi i am planning to do the GR 20 in mid august . It looks like some food is available but i am thinking to carry 3-4 days food in case there is none. would that be about right? Also for gas cooking do you know what cylinders are available in Calenzana ie screw, plug in , or pierce?
From Calvi airport can you go direct to Calenzana ?
Many thanks your assistance your web site is very helpfull.

Ross, you won't have any problem with food in August. Go as lightweight as possible. You can take a taxi from the St-Catherine Airport to Calenzana -- it's about 10 km.

Hi,

I don't want to open a new thread, therefore I am adding my question to this on.

I am planning to walk the GR20 in the first two weeks of September. Is there still food available on the refuge? Also I was there in 2004 and we could cook outside at a cooking place with gas from the refuge. Do you know if this is still available?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

You can use a gas stove to cook your meal outside refuges and as far as I know, basic food is still available there.

Hi Marek,

Thanks for your reply. But i want to double check:
So, are there still gas stoves available at the refuges or do I need my own one?

Thanks and have a nice weekend,
Patrick

...and I ask something else, but still related to this topic.
Can we find also some pots to boil water and cook meals if we camp at the refuge, so we don't have to carry pots but only a light plate and light cutlery?
Thanks.

We found at most refuges they did not like you to use there pots if you were camping... they were for the use of people staying in the refuge.
So to be on the safe side if you intend to camp every night and make your own food i would take a cooking pot.
