Public transport from Bastia to Haut Asco

Is it possible to get to/from Haut Asco from Bastia airport by public transport during the first half of September?? We have limited time and would love to do the northern section - would appreciate any comments on this plan. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

From May to October there is an everyday (except Sundays and bank holidays) bus service between Ponte Leccia and Asco provided by Grisoni Voyages (Tel: 0495 382074) -- see timetable. Ponte Leccia can be reached from Bastia either by bus (route Bastia - Ajaccio by Eurocorse Voyages, route Bastia - Corte by Autocars Cortenais and route Bastia - Ile Rousse by Corsicar), or by train.

Thanks for the useful links! Two more questions I thought of - as we want to travel really light, can we get food in all the refuges in the northern section? -and is it neccessary to bring a sleeping bag the first half of September?

You should be able to buy food in refuges during the first half of September. Sleeping bags are necessary anytime.
