Access to electricity?

Hi,

I'm planning on hiking the northern half of the GR20 (South to North from Vizzavona to Calenzana) in September this year . This is probably a very stupid question but, as an avid digital photographer, I am assuming that I'll have absolutely no access to electricity along the route (such as in the nightly refuges) and will need to bring enough batteries with me to last the (roughly) 9 days?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

You are right. There are no public power sockets in refuges along the GR20. However you needn't batteries for all nine days. You should find sockets in the hotel or restaurant in Castel Verghio. Don't forget enough memory cards too.

Hi Andrew,
I am also a digital photographer. I plan to take my dslr and the best rechargeables to take along would be the Sanyo Eneloops. They don't leak so have 3 sets all charged, they should be sufficient for 9 days if you are not constantly *chimping* (digital term for LCD viewing).

I plan to be from Mid August to be there. Happy shooting.

you could always take a solar charger, like the freeloader

they are pretty useless, solar chargers. i took a freeloader with me on the gr20 this september and i shouldn't have bothered. better off with more batteries.
