Hiking in Corsica
Hi all
I am going on a hiking holiday to Corsica at the end of August for 8 days. Although I do country walks quite a bit, I have never attempted mountains or walking in the heat! Can anyone give me some advice on what sort of clothing I should wear. Also I have been advised to take trekking poles - are these really necessary?
Many thanks

In August? Well, shorts and a t-shirt should be OK most of the time. If you are going to walk in the mountains, be ready for very strong wind and night temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius (a very rarely even lower).
Trekking poles help in long descents, e.g. on the GR 20 or other Corsican mountain trails, but they are not really necessary. Good trekking boots with perfect ankle support are more important I think.
Don't forget high factor sun protection.
