Is there the possibility to call home along the GR20?
If the cell phone doesn't work, does anybody knows if there are phones in the refuges?

Hope you'll forgive my terrible English, I'm a desperate italian trekker!

Mobile phones work on most of the GR 20. I'm afraid there are no normal phones in refuges.

are you sure? Grate! I read on the book I bought that mobile phones are totaly useless on the trail, my parents were not very glad. Now I can reassure them, thanks a lot

from my experience there was reception on most of the hill picks more then ~1700 meters high.

I didn't check very often, but in a few refuges, I did get some reception, I remember specifically Refuge de Prati having good reception. In other refuges I did not get any reception, but sometimes, like others said, I turned on my cell in the middle of the day and got something. You don't need to be out of touch for 15 days :)
