Tents in June
Two of us are walking the southern half of GR20 from 18/6/10 and would prefer to sleep in tents. I've bought a lightweight tent but it seems from this forum that high quality tents are easily rented at the refuges? Would this be true for end June? Or is it better to have my own tent as backup?
Also..is pitching a lightweight tent very difficult (with the stony ground)?
Finally, is it useful to bring a pot and pan..every 100g adds up! Many thanks, CM

Kit choice is always a personal preference, but ....
Plenty of lightweight tents out there ... some recommendations already on this forum. A vast amount of choice in the 2.5kgs range, which you can pick up for under £100. Coleman do one called the Avior (I used it's predecessor), which has a 4000 hydrostaic head rating and is easy to pitch, with a useful "boot locker" at the head in which you can place rucksacks and have them accessible from inside the tent. Take Alpkit pins and a few karabiners, and you can attach those guy lines anywhere ... trees, rocks ....
The MSR Pocket Rocket is a great stove; you will need an adapter to use it with the "puncture" Bluet C205 cannisters.
There are lots of lightweight pan kits on the market; titanium, if you are rich ;-)
Splitting this "group kit" between the two of you isn't going to kill you... and will give you independence, flexibility and peace of mind. You might also avoid a dose of fleas/bed-bugs/scabies/ snoring-rage at the refuges ... ;-))
Enjoy.
