Transport from Bastia airport to Calvi/Calenzana on Sunday 1st August.

Looking at previous posts travelling on a sunday is not the easiest thing to do in Corsica.

I arrive at around 10.00 and was wondering if anyone else is looking to do the same trip. If anyone has any advice or is already doing the same journey on the same day.

I see a lot of people hire vehicles, drive to Calvi airport, drop off and hitchike/trek the rest.

I would hire a car myself and offer any other struggling traveller a lift but I, personally am unable to hire a car.

Just highlighting the same i'm afraid.

Wanting to know if anyone has any advice for the travel on the sunday, or, if anyone else will be making the same journey by car etc. and would be willing to allow me to tag along for the journey.

Any assistance/advice would be appreciated as I don't particularly want to have to wait untill monday to travel.

For anyone wondering why I cannot hire a car myself. I am 20 years old which makes it practically impossible to hire any vehicle in the UK or abroad.

lesserspottedfox,

If you will be arriving at 10 am at Bastia airport I, quite frankly, don't see how you can start your trek from Calenzana on the very same day.

From Bastia, Calvi is roughly 100 km of narrow roads (i.e. no high speed). Even hitchhiking your way to Calenzana you won't be able to be there until the afternoon (maybe late afternoon) and since the first stage is long with also some 1300 mt ascent, it's not really advisable to start at that time of day.

My advice is to catch a train from Bastia to Calvi and from there you can either grab a cab, hitchhike your way or, if you are on time, get the 19:00 hrs something bus to Calenzana. Sleep at the Gite d'étape and start your trek early in the morning.

yeah. I didnt make that very clear. I intend to start on the omnday but from what I can see there is no public transport on the sunday. So i didn't want to wait until monday to travel to calenzana and then have to start the trek on the tuesday.
But...

Thanks for the advice.

As far as I can tell... there is transport on the Sunday:

Can anyone confirm either way?

Also does anyone know how much a cab might cost from Bastia to Calvi? (Might be a bit nuts but no harm in asking!)

Ok, if Calvi-Calenzana (which is roughly 13 Km.) is about 35 euros and considering that Bastia airport-Calenzana is almost 100 Km ... well ... you do the math :)
