Severe Dehydration on the GR20 August 2011

Just letting everyone know that it is extremely hot and dry on the GR20 this month, August 2011. I suffered severe dehydration on stage 2 and needed to leave the trail to be treated even though I had drank 3 liters of water that day during the walk (plus more upon arrival at the refuge) and 4 liters the day before on the trail. I should have added some salt and sugar to my drinking supply. Nausea, headache, dizziness and an unquenchable thirst (extreme dry mouth) were the result. There is virtually no water on those stages so bring a lot with you and think about adding salt and sugar to your water to create your own oral rehydration treatment. Think HOT. I was on the trail by 5:30 every morning to avoid the sun but still. . .
